The 2nd arrondissement
Even though the 2nd arrondissement is the smallest district in Paris, there's still a lot to look forward to here. As the former home of the Paris Stock Exchange, it eventually became the historic home of many financial institutions.
Paris' 2nd arrondissement boasts a lush neighborhood with complete facilities and bustling commercial areas. There's the popular and always busy shopping street, Rue Montorgueuil, for example. With its lively food market and unique specialty stores, people from the other arrondissements can't help but shop here. Rue Vivienne is also popular thanks to its eponymous shopping passage, Galeries Vivienne. Like Rue Montorgueuil, this place draws people in with its great shops, top-notch restaurants, and more.
The Sentier neighborhood is also worth noting for its bustling boulevards filled with chic bistros, quirky boutiques, and charming cafes in Paris. It's also the home of Le Grand Rex, the famous Art Deco-style cinema, and the Rx Club, a hip nightclub where international DJs play all night.
In terms of its area, the 2nd arrondissement borders with the 1st arrondissement, the 3rd arrondissement, the 8th arrondissement, the 9th arrondissement, and the 10th arrondissement.
Transport
Since it's a pretty urban district, the 2nd arrondissement is great for taking public transport. Similarly to the 1st arrondissement, this is a pedestrian-friendly area. If your destination is near enough, you don't have to take a taxi to ride the metro to get there. And speaking of the metro, the 2nd arrondissement also serves several lines, both the metro and the Réseau Express Régional (RER).
The metro lines that travel here include 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9. And thanks to the RER line A, you can get to La Défense business district, Disneyland Paris, and Marne-la-Vallée from the 2nd arrondissement as well.
Schools
There are many prestigious and renowned schools located in the 2nd arrondissement. Mosty notably, they include EEMI - Ecole Européenne des Métiers de l'Internet, Haute École de Joaillerie, CNAM - Institut National des Techniques Économique et Comptable, École & CFA d'Esthétique Silvya Terrade Paris, École Montessori de Paris, the Paris School of Business (PSB), EO Paris - École d'Ostéopathie de Paris, École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, IRIS - École Supérieure d'Informatique, and the EDHEC Business School.
Offices
Despite that it's the smallest district in Paris, the 2nd arrondissement remains a pretty central business hub. There are so many companies that have set up their headquarters here. In the digital field, companies like Facebook France, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Amazon Prime, PayPal, eBay, and Happn all have their offices here. In the fashion industry, big brands like CÉLINE, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo, Guess, Swarovski, Diesel, Guess, and Boohoo have set up shop in this area. And you'll also find the concept store Bouchara and recruitment agency Meteojob here too.
Real Estate
With so many schools here, the 2nd arrondissement has become the go-to neighborhood for families and students. It also helps that the real estate market here isn't as expensive, especially compared to its neighbors, the 1st, 7th, and 8th arrondissements. Though it's dominated by centuries-old Haussmann buildings and pre-ward structures, many of the luxury apartments, penthouses, and townhouses here are well-preserved and even newly renovated.
