The 17th arrondissement

Local life flourishes in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. With its lively bars, chic bistros, and charming cafes, it's one of the hippest districts in the city. A place where young locals hang out and have fun after hours. A hub where creatives do their thing and show it off to the rest of the world. Not to mention a haven for bohemians to live unconventionally, challenge societal norms, and make the French capital even more colorful.

The district is home to a few Parisian neighborhoods. There's Batignolles, Ternes, and Épinettes. Among the three, Batignolles is the most prominent. It's become a fairly popular area for locals, thanks in large part to Square des Batignolles, a serene park where the grass is green, the trees are tall, and the air is fresh. It's a breathtaking oasis of botanical bliss in the middle of one of the livelier parts of the city.

Perhaps the busiest place in the 17th arrondissement is Place de Clichy. This public square also serves as the intersection leading to various buzzing streets that are fairly popular. If you want to see where all the action is, you'd do well to start from here. Fortunately, the plaza has its own metro station too.

Within such a hip and happenin' district, you wouldn't have guessed that a place like Cité des Fleurs is located here. This pedestrian street in the Épinettes neighborhood is a cobbled pathway lined with beautiful gardens and quaint homes. It's a slice of the French countryside at the heart of the capital city, providing the perfect retreat for when you want to escape all the hustle and bustle.

The 17th arrondissement is also home to a good number of foreign embassies and consulates. You'll find the embassies for Armenia, Angola, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cape Verde, Georgia, Guatemala, Haiti, Liberia, Lithuania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Rwanda, and Togo. As well as the consulates of Angola, Belgium, Haiti, Portugal, and Spain.

Still, what's most remarkable about the 17th arrondissement is that you'll barely see any tourists around. The area has no famous tourist spots or iconic landmarks. Some parts are even so quiet, it's almost hard to believe that they're still part of the city. And if you do spot some tourists here, they're probably the ones who purposefully went off the beaten path, likely to witness what local life in Paris is all about.

In terms of its location, the 17th arrondissement with the 8th arrondissement, the 9th arrondissement, the 16th arrondissement, and the 18th arrondissement.
Transport

Since it's one of the more bustling arrondissements out there, public transport is alive and well in this district. The metro lines 1, 2, 3, 6, and 13 run here. As well as the Réseau Express Régional (RER) line A. So whether you're going to a different part of the city or even outside of the capital, you'll reach your destinations from here with little to no problem at all!

The RER A travels to La Défense Business District, Disneyland Paris, and Marne-la-Vallée

Schools

This district offers a whole host of prominent educational institutions. These are some of the finest schools in the city too. They include Ecole Hôtelière de Paris - Lycée Jean Drouant, École Hôtelière Vatel Paris, ISC Paris, École de Paris des Métiers de la Table, ESVE - École Supérieure de Vente et d'Exportation, and Ecole Nationale de Commerce ENC Bessières Paris.

Offices

Part of why the 17th arrondissement is always bustling is likely because of the many companies that have their headquarters here. They include The Kooples, Montblanc, Valeo, Red Bull, Dailymotion, BNP Paribas, Sony France, Canon France, Capgemini, OVHcloud, and Ligue Nationale de Rugby

Real Estate

The real estate market in the 17th arrondissement may not be the strongest, but it's still pretty high in demand nonetheless. Since it's a lively district, many residents want to live here and many tourists want to stay here. As such, the area offers all sorts of properties, ranging from compact studio apartments to massive penthouses, which are both for either rent or purchase.
