The 16th arrondissement
Affluence defines the 16th arrondissement of Paris. It may not be as glamorous as the Champs-Élysées or as trendy as Le Marais but this part of the city is still high-class. It's where old money lives in Paris, the elite whose fortunes have stood the test of time. With their refined exclusivity and understated elegance, they live the haute lifestyle at its finest.
The Passy neighborhood dominates the 16th arrondissement of Paris. A fairly quiet part of the city, it's the closest thing the French capital has to a suburban area. Grand mansions, gorgeous penthouses, and lavish apartments make up the district, providing homes to the rich and famous who want to live fairly normal and somewhat discreet lives in Paris. They're all housed in classic architecture and pre-war buildings, preserving the historic beauty of the city while allowing for contemporary luxurious lifestyles.
Most notably, the 16th arrondissement is also where many foreign embassies are located. Within these stately halls, ambassadors and diplomats get to live in splendor as they fulfill their various obligations and responsibilities to their respective countries. And because of these important institutions, the area rose to even greater prominence over the years.
With all that has been said, the district still has a few attractions that locals and tourists alike would do well to check out. Palais de Tokyo, for example, is a mecca for contemporary art. The biggest names in the art world today either have the works displayed here or have used the museum as the venue for their exhibitions and demonstrations. There's also Fondation Louis Vuitton, an architectural marvel designed by the great Frank Gehry. Commissioned by the LVMH Luxury Group, this museum houses tons of exciting works of modern art. Not to mention serves as the venue for many shows and presentations during Paris Fashion Week.
For those who yearn for a green space in the 16th arrondissement, look no further than the famous Bois de Boulogne. As the main park on the western side of Paris, there's more to this place than its lush greeneries and fresh air. Famously, the Bois de Boulogne is home to the Longchamp and Auteuil racetracks, among the finest jewels in the equestrian world. There's even a theme park, Jardin d'Acclimatation, here too! It's the perfect place for families living in the area to spend a fun and exciting weekend together.
In terms of its location, the 16th arrondissement borders with the 7th arrondissement, the 8th arrondissement, the 15th arrondissement, and the 17th arrondissement.
Transport
Public transport is no problem in the 16th arrondissement. Even though it's an area where most residents probably have their own cars to begin with, it's still pretty easy to commute to and from this district. Especially since the metro lines 1, 2, 6, 9, and 10 run through here. Not to mention the Réseau Express Régional (RER) lines A and C as well.
The RER A travels to La Défense, Disneyland Paris, and Marne-la-Vallée
The RER C travels to Versailles and Orly Airport.
Schools
As one of the more affluent districts in Paris, it's only natural that a few prominent schools are located here. They include Ecole Ducasse - Paris Studio (highly-acclaimed culinary school), Institut Supérieur du Droit - Ecole de Droit Privée (a private university), and the Novancia Business School Paris.

Offices
It's also no surprise that the area houses the headquarters of various businesses. The most notable ones include Duclot, NRJ Group, Apple France, Lacoste, Zadig & Voltaire, and Biocoop.
Real Estate
“Expensive” doesn't even begin to describe the real estate market in the 16th arrondissement. This is one of the wealthiest districts in the city. It's a fairly quiet and sem-exclusive area where the upper echelons of French Society and beyond reside. Needless to say, you won't find a place here, even if it's a mere studio apartment, that's affordable.
