The 14th arrondissement
Located on the left bank of the Seine River, the 14th arrondissement of Paris offers the best of both worlds. The area is lively enough that you can still feel the urban energy that the French capital is known for. At the same time, there are many parts of the district that are a lot quieter, more peaceful, and largely residential. With how the arrondissement maintains a healthy balance of the two, you can already tell that this place is worth checking out.
Most notably, the 14th arrondissement is home to the Montparnasse district, one of the central and most popular neighborhoods in Paris. It's here where you'll find a few famous attractions, such as the Montparnasse Tower and the Paris Catacombs. The latter is especially famous among the more thrill-seeking tourists who'd rather go to more eerie places than iconic spots. The underground maze spans 300 kilometers throughout the city, all of which are lined with the remains of approximately six million people. The Montparnasse Tower, on the other hand, is a 210-meter office skyscraper with a nice observation deck. From here, you get to enjoy such amazing views of Paris.
If you're up for a greener space, there's also Parc Montsouris on Rue Gazan. Though it's not among the most famous parks in Paris, it's still a favorite among locals in the area. Even tourists will be enamored by how green it is, from the lush fields to the beautiful trees that provide ample amounts of shade. You might not see any grand mansions or opulent fountains nearby, but the park remains a beautiful oasis of botanical bliss nonetheless!
In terms of location, the 14th arrondissement borders with the 5th arrondissement, the 6th arrondissement, the 13th arrondissement, and the 15th arrondissement.
Transport
As it's a fairly popular city, navigating public transport from here is easy peasy. The metro lines 4, 6, 12, and 13, as well as the Réseau Express Régional (RER) line B run in this district.
The RER B travels to the Roissy Charles De Gaulle Airport.
Schools
Quite famously, Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris is located in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. It's a massive residential complex that houses students and visiting academics in the city. And many of those who do stay here go to the many prestigious schools in the area. They include École Pratique des Hautes Études - Université PSL, PPA Business School - Ecole de commerce et de Management, PSE - École d'Économie de Paris, École Spéciale d'Architecture, École Acteurs Artisans, and ESCEN Paris - Ecole Supérieure de Commerce et de Marketing Digital Paris.
Offices
It's also worth noting that the 14th arrondissement has its fair share of offices too. The headquarters of prominent companies like Human Station, Laforêt, and Chronopost are all located here. And it's highly likely that their employees live around the area as well.
Real Estate
The 14th arrondissement, specifically the Montparnasse neighborhood, has a fairly strong real estate market. Because of the district's popularity, many people, be they natives or expats, are interested in getting a place here. Not to mention the tourists who prefer to rent residential properties for their accommodations instead of going to hotels. With such considerable high demand, you'll find that the real estate prices here are commonly around mid-range to expensive.
